Collection Strengths
In the past two decades the Emory Libraries have built strong special collections, led collaborative digitization projects, and hosted programs and events that promote the vision of Emory University as a unique learning community. During this time the Emory Libraries have distinguished themselves as leaders in these areas:
- Modern literature with an emphasis in 19th Century British literature, African-American literature, the Irish literary revival, and Georgia authors.
- African American history and culture.
- U.S. southern history and culture from the colonial period to the modern day.
- U.S. Civil Rights
Digital Collections
The Emory Libraries aspire to continue to play a leadership role in building a national digital library network, supporting innovative technology initiatives, and developing premier research collections and instructional programs that make the library a destination for students and scholars. The libraries’ strategic plan envisions a future which combines premier research collections, innovative digital resources and services, and collaborative facilities for teaching and research, to create an unparalleled environment for learning, discovery and engaged leadership.
