Transportation to/from Hartsfield International Airport

Flying into Atlanta, you will land at Hartsfield International Airport, roughly 12 miles from RBMS headquarter’s hotel, The Georgian Terrace Hotel (located at 659 Peachtree Street, Northeast). Given the transportation choices described below, the most efficient and least expensive option for traveling to the Georgian Terrace is to take the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).

The MARTA Airport Station is located adjacent to the baggage claim area and offers direct rail service between the airport and downtown. To travel to hotel, board a north-bound train and get off at the North Avenue Station (N3) which is an approximate 20-minute ride. The MARTA fare is $1.75, and either exact change or a token is required. Token vending machines are available at the Airport Station. Trains run approximately every 8 minutes and operate daily from approximately 5:00am until 1:00 am.

The North Avenue Station is located 1 block south of the Georgian Terrace Hotel. After exiting the Marta Station onto West Peachtree Street walk north one block to Ponce de Leon, cross the street and turn right, the hotel is one block away on the corner of Ponce de Leon and Peachtree Street.

Atlanta Airport Shuttle (770-457-4794 or 770-932-9127) operates vans every half-hour between 6:00am and midnight from the airport to downtown hotels. The downtown trip ($14.00 one-way, $22.00 round-trip) takes about 20 minutes. Vans also go to Emory University ($17.00 one-way, $30.00 round-trip).

Taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day. Atlanta’s taxi fleet operates under a limited flat-rate system. From the airport to the Georgian Terrace Hotel, the fare is $28.00 for one, and $30.00 for two, $35.00 for three, and $ 40.00 for four. All major car rental companies are registered at Hartsfield International.

Driving directions/Parking

The Georgian Terrace is located at 659 Peachtree Street, Northeast, on the corner of Peachtree and Ponce de Leon Streets. Please do not confuse Peachtree Street with West Peachtree Street, they are two distinct roads. Hotel parking is $22.00 per day and is located off of Peachtree Street.

Traveling south on I-75/I-85
Exit at North Avenue (Exit 249D), turn left at end of ramp. At the 3rd traffic light (after crossing Spring Street and West Peachtree Street), turn left onto Peachtree Street. Cross over Ponce de Leon Street and the Georgian Terrace is on the right.

Traveling north on I-75, I-85
Exit at Peachtree/Spring Street (Exit 249B). Go to Peachtree Street (2 blocks) and turn left. Cross over Ponce de Leon Street and the Georgian Terrace is on the right.

I-20
Take I-75/I-85 North, then exit at West Peachtree/Spring Street exit (Exit 249B). Go to Peachtree Street (2 blocks) and turn left. Cross over Ponce de Leon Street and the Georgian Terrace is on the right.

Driving directions from Woodruff Residential Center, Emory University to the Georgian Terrace

Start off driving south on Clifton Road by taking a left out of the parking lot. At the intersection of Clifton and N. Decatur Road Take a right onto N. Decatur. At the intersection of N. Decatur and Briarcliff Road, take a left onto Briarcliff. At the intersection of Briarcliff and Ponce de Leon Avenue take a right onto Ponce de Leon. Drive almost two miles down Ponce until you reach the insection of Peachtree Road and Ponce. The Georgian Terrace is at this intersection on the right. Parking is available at the hotel ($22.00 per day).

Public transportation options between Emory and the Georgian Terrace

There are two good options:

Marta bus #6 (southbound) stops at the corner of N. Decatur and Clifton (and points between the Woodruff Residential Center (on Clifton) and N. Decatur). A 15 minute ride on that bus will take passengers to the Candler Park Marta station where they can catch a train on the East-West line going west to Five Points station (four stops from Candler Park). From Five Points station they can catch a North-South train going north to the North Avenue station (three stops from Five Points and 1 block south of the Georgian Terrace Hotel). The bus operates from about 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. The trains are available from about 4:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. Information about fares is available at http://www.itsmarta.com/lo/howto/fares.htm.

A free shuttle, the CCTMA-Decatur Shuttle, http://www.epcs.emory.edu/AltTransp/route-cctma.htm, stops at the Woodruff dorm from about 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. It will take passengers to the Decatur Marta station where they can catch a train on the East-West line going west to Five Points station (six stops from Decatur). From Five Points station they can catch a North-South train going north to the North Avenue station (three stops from Five Points and 1 block south of the Georgian Terrace Hotel).
