Improvements to library search tools

On Monday, October 10, 2011, Emory Libraries will begin the second phase of upgrades to discoverE. The improvements will better integrate discoverE, EUCLID, and other holdings to provide a more seamless interface to the richness of Emory’s resources, while replacing our 17-year-old back-end library automation system. The upgrades also will allow future growth in library capabilities and holdings.

After the upgrades, you will notice only a few changes in discoverE– primarily, it will search faster, provide access to a broader range of resources, and direct you more efficiently to what you need. There will be no changes to interlibrary loan, ReservesDirect, or your ability to use proxies for item checkout. Your library account and borrowing privileges will remain unchanged. EUCLID will show a more dramatic change as we bring it in line with the enhanced functionality of the new system.

Please see this flyer for additional details.

As we transition to this new system, there undoubtedly will be questions and concerns about learning to navigate and use new features. Please do not hesitate to contact library staff for assistance or consult the project web page <http://web.library.emory.edu/conduct-research/discovere/search-improvements> .

Get Smarter, Work Smarter

Working smarter may sound like a managerial cliche or a nonfiction bestseller but we can help you do just that! The Woodruff Library is offering workshops on tools and resources that can enhance your research and your plain old life as well.

Zotero vs. EndNote

One of the key roles of the Emory Libraries is to help you get your research and writing done. And as we all learned in English 101, research requires citations. That's why the library offers workshops in two of the best citation management tools: Zotero and EndNote.
