Book artists to open miniature canned version of “Cannery Row” at Emory’s Woodruff Library

Emory University’s Robert W. Woodruff Library will host an unusual book art event in early March – the opening of a shrimp can that contains a miniature illustrated excerpt of John Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row.”

Joseph Crespino to discuss “Strom Thurmond’s America” Jan. 29 at Woodruff Library

Joseph Crespino, the author of the new biography “Strom Thurmond’s America,” will host an author talk on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m. at Emory University’s Robert W. Woodruff Library.

Crespino, associate professor of history at Emory, says he wrote the book on the late South Carolina senator to provide a portrait of Thurmond’s effect on modern conservative politics nationally.

SCLC archive exhibition opens at Emory

An exhibition featuring materials from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) archive will open Thursday, Feb. 21 at Emory University's Robert W. Woodruff Library.

The opening celebration on Friday, Feb. 22 from 6-8 p.m. will feature remarks by SCLC leaders Charles Steele Jr., national CEO; Bernard LaFayette, national board president; and Dorothy Cotton, SCLC education director 1960-1968.
