Tim Bryson joined Woodruff Library in 1999 as its first South Asian Studies librarian. Having earned a doctorate in 1992 from the University of Chicago in the history of religions in South Asia and having previously worked for the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard (1992-1996) and for the Emory-affiliated American Academy of Religion (1996-1999), he was happy to add Religious Studies to his responsibilities.
