There are six Minolta MS6000 microform reader workstations
on Level 1. You can read and print from Microfilm and
Microfiche at all of these workstations.
Two of these workstations are also configured to scan
directly to a computer. You can save files at these
two scanning workstations to floppy disk, USB drive,
CD/DVD, or email (provided the file is not too big).
Members of the Emory University Community can log into
these two scanning workstations with their Emory Net
ID and password. Visitors can log in using a User ID
and password that is provided in the instruction guide
at these workstations. You can also read a shortened
version of this
instruction guide here before coming into the Library.
Three of these workstations are also set up so that
you can connect your own laptop to the microform
readers, using a USB cable which we provide. To do this
requires you to set up a few things in advance on your
laptop, including installing a Minolta driver. In addition,
you'll need some kind of scanware (such as Adobe Acrobat,
Photoshop, etc.) that allows you to create PDFs. Please
contact the Tech Support Desk for more information.
The Learning Commons student assistants will be happy to help
as much as possible with your laptop setup and with any
problems with the Microforms readers and printers.
The Level 1 service desk is staffed by a Learning Commons
student assistant. The Learning Commons student
assistant on Level 2 may be available to help, as well.
Please refer to
our Hours for Tech Support page for their hours of availability.
For assistance finding call numbers for microforms,
please refer to the Reference staff at the Level 2 service
desk. The Reference staff's hours of availability can
be found at the Library
Hours page.
