Citing sources is a necessary part of academic research projects. It is important to give credit where credit is due. In order to give credit, you need to properly cite the books, articles, and web sites that have helped you in your research process. If you don't give credit to your sources or ifyou cite your sources incorrectly, you are plagiarizing.

Citation styles may vary by subject or professor. Find out what citation style your professor recommends.

You can also see the library's "Citing Your Sources Research Guide" for more information.
