The following features and applications are available on the Learning Commons PC workstations:

The iMac workstations have the following programs available:

Data Visualization and Statistics Workstations (DVS zone, 11 PC stations)*

    • Acrobat Reader, ArtStor, SSH Secure Shell, Cn3D, Chem Bio Draw 12, CrossFire Commander 7.1, Python, SciFinder Scholar, WebDrive
    • Astronomy Applications: Sky Gazer, Stellarium, Jupiter Moons, Revolution of Jupiter Moons, Stellar Spectra

    *Note: the MathSci library classroom has 15 PC computers with a similar set of applications. In addition, the Data Center (ECIT area), the Cox Hall lab and the Tarbutton Graduate lab have some of these applications, including STATA 11 and SPSS 17, available.

Desktop Publishing and Digital Media Workstations (DPDM zone, 3 MacPro, 4 iMac, and 3 PC stations)

In addition to the standard Learning Commons machines, there are also special workstations on Level 2 with the following additional programs:

    • All stations: Adobe CS4 Design Premium (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Acrobat 9 Pro)
    • All Mac stations: iWork 09, QuickTime Pro
    • MacPro stations: Final Cut Express, Logic Express
    • All stations: access to www.lynda.com—an online training library for various applications.

Express Service Stations (2 PC stations)

There are two Express Service workstations on Level 2 near the Reference/Information desk that do not require a password and are equipped with Internet browsers, Microsoft Office viewers, Adobe Acrobat Reader, multimedia players, and the FirstClass and WebDrive clients. These workstations provide quick access to data and printing.  There is a 30-minute time limit at these workstations.
