Our mission as a member of the Federal
Depository Library Program is to provide timely access
to government information for members of the Emory University
Community, citizens of the United States, and the broader
global community, in support of their learning, teaching,
and research endeavors.
Woodruff
has been a selective U.S. government depository library
since 1928, serving the 4th Congressional District
of Georgia. We select 55% of the publications available
from the Government Printing Office, which is in charge
of the depository library program. We also purchase
collections of documents sold by commercial companies.
Our main areas of collection
are congressional and statistical materials (mainly
economic & social) and foreign policy documents.
We receive government documents from almost every
federal agency and sub-agency.
Use EUCLID
to find the documents in our collection. However,
not all of the government documents collections we own are in EUCLID.
For more information, see: How
do I find out what government documents Woodruff Library
has?
The vast majority of government documents, including the decennial census volumes (listed in EUCLID as being in the GOV-CENSUS location) and the government documents reference collection (listed in EUCLID as being in the GOVDOCSREF location)
are on Level 1
and are arranged according to the Superintendent of
Documents (SuDoc) classification system. On Level
2 there is a small documents reference collection at
the Reference Desk (location in EUCLID is REFDESK). Also on Level 2
there is a computer workstation reserved for government
documents access, the documents CD-Rom and DVD collection, and
the Georgia topographic maps. For more information, see: Finding
U.S. Government Documents in Woodruff Library
(pdf brochure).
