| This exhibition of over thirty
Jewish ceremonial objects by the noted New York-based
painter and sculptor Tobi Kahn reflects the artists
interpretation of the rising interest in spiritual expression
and identity. The exhibition is intended to be a catalyst
for both personal and inter-faith explorations of ritual;
whether people invent a ritual to satisfy a personal need
or participate in contemporary expressions of an ancient
ritual, they fulfill a primary need to create and distill
meaning from experience.
As part of a companion education program,
Kahn and a group of teaching artists will be on hand
August 30th through September 1st to conduct workshops
with high school and university students, helping them
create their own ritual objects. The Avoda team will
also lead training seminars for area educators.
