About the Exhibition
Carlos Rojas's most recent series of exquisite collages entitled Dark Night of the Soul exemplify his attempts to meld poetry, painting and collage in an effort to portray the unremitting love written of first by sixteenth century mystic St. John of the Cross and later in this century by poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Twenty-three of the series of twenty-five collages will be on view together in the Corridor Gallery. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese will sponsor a Gallery Talk by Professor Emeritus Rojas at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 23rd in the Jones Room; the gallery talk will be followed by a reception.
