Celebrating the gift of work by artist Fay Pullen Fairbrother given by prominent Atlanta artist Lucinda Bunnen to the Emory Women's Center, the exhibit will partially reconstruct the last projects created by the late Fairbrother, a multi-faceted artist working in photographs, fabric, and sculpture. The series of photographs entitled, "Self-Portrait: Grief," document her battle with cancer — which ultimately took her life. A 3rd generation quilt maker, she was most widely known for addressing issues concerning family strengths, fears, and repression. Both her photographs and many of her quilts were finally incorporated into an installation entitled, "Caged Spirits," which used birdcages filled with various objects to symbolizing her work addressing women's oppression.
