The abandoned Candler mansion on the Briarcliff campus has been a source of fascination for years – but the building is off-limits due to its dilapidated condition. Photographer Brian McGrath Davis, an ILA graduate student whose dissertation is on photographic theory, writing, memory and place studies, secured special access to take a series of photos. The photos are on display as “The Abandoned Mansion,” an exhibition the ECIT Gallery on Level 2 of Emory University’s Woodruff Library. Take a peek inside the grand home that once also served as a mental health institution and an outpatient addiction recovery center.
