Opening reception for Shadows of the Sun: The Crosbys, the Black Sun Press & the Lost Generation
Schatten Gallery, Level 3, Woodruff Library
French wine and hors d'oeuvres
This exhibition shines a light on the Black Sun Press, modernism, and the generation of writers, artists, jazz musicians and exiles in Paris after the First World War. The Black Sun Press, founded by Caresse and Harry Crosby in Paris in the 1920s, is emblematic of the avant-garde nature and adventurous spirit of the Lost Generation. Books in the exhibition include those by authors Ernest Hemingway, D.H. Lawrence, James Joyce, and Hart Crane.
Please join us for the opening reception. This French-themed event, with French wine and hors d'oeuvres, is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Fishburne Deck.
Walking directions from the deck to the library entrance.
“Shadows of the Sun” runs through March 2012. Learn more about the rare books in the exhibition here.
