Audio/Visual Media Preservation
The Audio/Visual Media Preservation Unit is responsible for advising
librarians, archivists, and curators on issues related to the preservation
of audio and visual library holdings recorded in many different
formats. Materials of particular focus include analog and digital
sound and video recordings stored on magnetic media carriers, motion
picture films, and photographs.
Audio Visual preservation usually involves stabilizing the endangered
media carrier through proper housing and storage and, in some cases,
creating copies of the content for access.
