Collection Assessment
Preservation Office staff, in consultation with librarians, archivists,
and curators help develop a wide range of preservation strategies
for library materials.
The collection assessments may result in strategies that respond
to specific problems (such as mold outbreaks) or programs that aim
to minimize damage to or slow the deterioration of library materials.
For example, the Preservation Office staff provides care and handling
workshops, identifies specialized conservation vendors, advises
on storage issues, develops proposals for reformatting library materials,
etc.
