Articles Tab

Searching the Articles tab allows access to subject-specific quicksets of databases. Following are descriptions of database quicksets for particular subject areas.

What is in the General quickset?

Academic Search Complete
A comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, covering journals, magazines, monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

JSTOR
Provides access to digitized versions to complete runs (minus the most recent years) of key scholarly journals in the arts, the humanities, literature, the sciences, the social sciences, and selected scholarly journals in business, ecology, botany, music, and statistics. JSTOR does NOT include the most recent years (dependent upon journal as to when the cutoff date is).  

What databases are included in the Business Information Quickset?

Business Source Complete
A scholarly business database that provides access to many peer-reviewed business related journals, including disciplines such as marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Detailed author profiles for the 20,000 most-cited authors in the database. Additional full-text, non-journal content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works, conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses and more.

What databases are included in the Encyclopedias & Dictionaries quickset?

Reference Universe
Designed to be used in conjunction with a library's print reference collection. It provides the ability to search the article titles and indexes of subject encyclopedias and reference works from 250 publishers, with links directly to discoverE to indicate which of the titles Emory owns. It also links to online versions of the sources, if available, and to reviews of the works indexed. The Browse feature permits exploration by publisher, title, subject heading, index terms, and LC call number.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
A collection of online reference works -- see title list for individual works included.

Biography In Context
A database of biographical information on people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. Combines biographies from biographical sources such as Biography and Genealogy Master Index and nearly one million biographies from Marquis Who's Who publications. In-depth profiles, thumbnail sketches, and full-text journal articles are included.

What databases are included in the History quickset?

Historical Abstracts (EBSCO)
Indexes journals, books, and dissertations on world history from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada).

America History and Life (EBSCO)
Indexes journals, book reviews, and dissertations for American history and Canadian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present.

History Reference Center
A full-text history reference database designed for undergraduate research. The database features full text for reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, as well as full text for more than 120 history periodicals. Further, the database contains historical documents; biographies of historical figures; historical photos and maps; and hours of historical video.

What databases are included in the Literature & Language quickset?

Literature Online
A fully searchable library that includes works of English and American poetry, drama and prose, plus biographies, bibliographies and key criticism and reference resources.

Project Muse
Provides access to scholarly journals published by major university presses. Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, and many others.

What databases are included in the Media Studies quickset?

Communication & Mass Media Complete (EBSCO)
Provides indexing and some full text for journals in areas related to communication and mass media. CMMC incorporates CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association) and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Penn State) along with other journals.

What is included in the Music quickset?

Academic Search Complete
A comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, covering journals, magazines, monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

International Index to Music Periodicals
Indexes articles from music journals and selectively indexes some periodicals in other fields. Abstracts are provided for articles published after 1995. Coverage begins with 1996 except for selected journals indexed in their entirety.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
A comprehensive music bibliography featuring citations, abstracts, and indexes. Contains records on traditional, popular, and classical music.  Publications originate from 151 countries and are in 214 languages. Coverage of all document types begins in 1967. Coverage of Conference Proceedings goes back to 1835.

What is in the Biological Sciences quickset?

PubMed
A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMed includes citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals.

Academic Search Complete
A comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, covering journals, magazines, monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

What is in the Health Sciences and Medicine quickset?

CINAHL
The Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature database provides comprehensive coverage of the literature related to nursing and allied health disciplines.

PubMed
A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMed includes citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals

PubMed

What is in the Religion and Philosophy quickset?

ATLA Religion Database
Indexes journals, essays in multi-author works, and book reviews in the areas of religion and theology.

Religion & Philosophy Collection
A database with full-text journals that covers topics in spiritual, ethical, philosophical, cultural, and historical aspects of the world's religions

What is in the Social Sciences quickset?

Political Science Complete
Contains the full text of a wide variety of political science journals, working papers and conference proceedings.

Sociological Abstracts (1952-date)
Indexes and abstracts the international literature in sociology and related fields. Covers journals, plus relevant dissertation listings, abstracts of conference papers, and selected books.

EconLit (EBSCO)
An expanded version of The Journal of Economic Literature and the Index of Economic Articles. It is a worldwide, indexed bibliography with selected abstracts on economics from major journals, books, dissertations, and collective volumes.

What is in the Theater and Dance quickset?

International Bibliography of Theater & Dance with Full Text (EBSCO)
Covers articles, essays and book chapters mined from internationally selected publications in drama, dance, media, mime, mixed entertainment, storytelling, music-drama, and puppetry. IBTD is a research tool for university theater and language departments, theater organizations, primary schools, social scientists and professionals within the field.

What is in the Theology quickset?

Catholic Periodical and Literature Index
Covers all aspects of the Catholic faith and lifestyle, and includes citations of articles and reviews published in Roman Catholic periodicals, Papal documents, church promulgations, and books about the Catholic faith that are authored by Catholics and/or produced by Catholic publishers.

ATLA Religion Database
Indexes journals, essays in multi-author works, and book reviews in the areas of religion and theology.

What is in the Visual Art quickset?

Bibliography of the History of Art
Contains records describing the current literature of art, including books, exhibition catalogs, dissertations, and journal articles. Produced by the Getty l'Information Scientifique et Technique (INIST). BHA incorporates the art indexes RILA (International Reportory of the Literature of Art) and RAA Repertoire d'art et d'archeologie).

Art Index Retrospective
A bibliographic database that cumulates citations published between 1929-1984. International in scope, coverage includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks,and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian,German, Spanish, and Dutch. Also indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals.

Art Full Text
Indexes and abstracts articles from periodicals published throughout the world since 1984, plus English-language yearbooks and museum bulletins.

ARTbibliographies Modern
Abstracts an international selection of journal articles, books, essays, exhibition catalogs, dissertations, and exhibition reviews includes literature on painting, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, performance art, installation works, video art, computer and electronic art, body art, graffiti, artists' books, theater arts, crafts, jewelry, and illustration.
