Changing Library Email Account

Most Emory students, faculty, and staff are already set up to receive library notices via e-mail.

The library defaults to your Emory e-mail address. It can be found in the Emory Directory.

If this e-mail address is incorrect, or if you would prefer a different address, it can be changed using the Preferred Email Address Change Handler. For more on managing your email at Emory, see our Email Information page.

Contact Us

The Circulation and Reserves Department is located on Level 3 of the Center for Library
and Information Resources inside the Robert W. Woodruff Library.

An elevator and a stairwell in the lobby provide access to Level 3, which is one level above entry level.

The Robert W. Woodruff Library is located at 540 Asbury Circle across from the Hospital and adjacent to the Quadrangle.

Finding Books and Other Materials

First, search EUCLID. (library catalog)

For help searching EUCLID, you may consult the Reference desk.

Books are shelved in call number order using the Library of Congress classification scheme.

The book stacks are accessed by the stacks elevators at the rear of the library.

Reserves material can also be found in EUCLID.

Music & Media items can be found on the fourth floor accessed by the lobby elevator.

 
Checking Out Materials

Books may be checked out at the Circulation and Reserves desk on the third floor of the Robert W. Woodruff Library.

An official picture ID, usually an EmoryCard or driver's license, is necessary to check out books.

Renewing Materials

You may:

Renew materials on-line.

(Be aware that on-line renewals will not work for materials that have been recalled or reached their renewal limit, nor will you be able to renew on-line if your account is blocked or due to expire shortly.)

or

Renew materials at the Circulation and Reserves desk.

 
Paying Fines

You may pay your Woodruff, Music & Media, and Chemistry bills in person at the Circulation and Reserves desk.

Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check or EmoryCard. No credit or debit cards are accepted.

If you are an Emory Student, your library bills are bursared and you have the option of paying them on your bursar bill.

Materials I Have Checked Out

To see the due dates of the books that are checked out to you, go to the User Services Module.

 
Creating Faculty-Appointed Proxies

A proxy is a person who may act on another's behalf for university research purposes.

Only faculty members, teaching graduate students, and persons with disabilities are eligible to register proxies with the library.

If you want to arrange for a proxy, please contact the Circulation & Reserves Department.

Recalling Books That Are Checked Out

When you are viewing a record in EUCLID for an item that is checked out from the General Libraries, you may place a recall request from the detailed record screen.

Once you've found the correct citation, click on the oval REQUEST IT button to the right of the item record. Choose the following option:

Recall Item from Another Patron

Fill out the request form and click on SEND REQUEST. A Request Confirmation page will appear.

The Circulation desk will notify you once the book arrives and is ready to be picked up.

Requesting Search for Materials Not Located In Stacks

If the book is not in its correct location in the stacks, try the following:

Check the correct location in the stacks according to the call number of the item.

Check the re-shelving and overflow areas in the stacks. Click here for map.

Check with Circulation staff to verify current status of item.

Ask a Stacks staff person to assist you in locating the item.

If the item cannot be found, contact the Circulation desk for further assistance.

 
Requesting Material From Storage

If the EUCLID record indicates a location of "Storage," click on the oval REQUEST IT to the right of the item record. the Storage option, and fill out the form.

Click on the oval REQUEST IT button to the right of the item record. Choose the following option:

Request Item from Storage

Fill out the request form and click on SEND REQUEST. A Request Confirmation page will appear.

Requesting Material From Oxford Campus Library

Material held by the Oxford campus library can be retrieved and held for you at the Circulation and Reserves desk.

While in EUCLID click on the oval REQUEST IT button to the right of the item record. Choose the following option:

Request Item from Oxford

Fill out the request form and click on SEND REQUEST. A Request Confirmation page will appear.

The Circulation desk will notify you once the book arrives and is ready to be picked up.

Requesting Material From Non-Emory Library

Interlibrary loan and interlibrary use give Emory students, faculty and staff access to research materials that are not available in the Emory University libraries.
