Library Staff and Administration: Special Projects

Collection Management, in cooperation with other divisions of the Main Library is involved in several ongoing projects including:

Moving Beyond Paper

An on-going initiative to migrate to e-only formats selected journals that the Emory libraries currently purchase both in print and electronically.  Before a journal is considered for e-only format, several conditions must be met, ranging from assurances that the online content meets or exceeds that available in print to archival rights which grant perpetual access to the volumes/years subscribed.

Subject Librarians are responsible for building the Main Libraries' collections and seek to articulate, anticipate, and meet Emory's academic department and program needs. They are expected to learn about and keep abreast of:

  • scholarship and Emory programs in the field(s) they support
  • information resources relevant to those field(s)
  • users’ behavior and attitudes in incorporating information resources in their work, teaching and study

Towards this end, Subject Librarians consider products in all formats for purchase or subscription, and often establish trials of new databases in the Main Library.
