ARCHE Interlibrary Use Program
Through the Interlibrary
Use (ILU) Program of the Atlanta
Regional Consortium for Higher Education (ARCHE), Emory students,
faculty, and staff may obtain limited direct borrowing privileges
at other ARCHE libraries. This program is designed to supplement
Emory libraries' resources. This program does not permit the use
of another ARCHE library's facilities for general study purposes
or because of convenience of location.
An ARCHE Interlibrary Use card grants you limited direct borrowing
privileges at a specific library. Each library determines its own
borrowing regulations, which you are expected to observe. Each library
determines how many books you may borrow, and for how long. Renewal
of materials is handled directly by each lending library, according
to its own policies.
ARCHE Institutions that Accept Interlibrary Use (ILU) Cards
How to Apply for an ARCHE ILU Card
You must apply for an ARCHE Interlibrary Use card in person at your
Emory library and must present a valid Emory ID. Emory College, Graduate
School of Arts and Sciences, and Goizueta Business School faculty,
students and staff must apply at the Woodruff Library Reference/Information
Desk. Other professional school faculty, students, and staff must
apply at their professional school library.
ARCHE Interlibrary Use cards are issued for a specific library
and are valid for a specific, limited period of time. Cards are
not transferable and can only be issued to you by your Emory library.
You may apply for an Interlibrary Use card whenever the need arises.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the good condition and prompt return of all
materials you borrow with your ARCHE Interlibrary Use card.
You may return materials borrowed from other ARCHE libraries directly
to the lending library or through the ARCHE van delivery system.
Books returned via the van delivery system must be brought to the
General Libraries Interlibrary Loan Office or Reference Desk (2nd
Floor, Woodruff Library) at least four days before the due date.
The General Libraries are not responsible for any loss or damage
to these materials en route, and the user is responsible for any
overdue fines which may accrue on materials which are returned via
the van delivery system.
You will be fined directly by the lending library for any overdue,
damaged, or lost books. Failure to pay fines, or other abuse of
Interlibrary Use privileges may result in suspension of those privileges,
transfer of outstanding fines to your Emory Bursar's record, and/or
suspension of your borrowing privileges at the Emory libraries.

GETS Interlibrary Use Program
The GETS initiative provides reciprocal library borrowing privileges
among the four participating institutions: the University
of Georgia, Emory
University, Georgia
Institute of Technology, and Georgia
State University.
Emory students, faculty and staff only need their EmoryCard
to borrow circulating material from libraries at these institutions.

OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program
The Reciprocal
Faculty Borrowing Program is sponsored by OCLC's
Research Libraries Advisory Committee. Faculty of participating
universities may borrow (in most cases) another library's materials
because of this reciprocal agreement between the university's libraries.
Each library, through its dean or director, makes the decision to
participate in the program and they also decide what services they
will offer visiting faculty.

RLG SHARES On-Site Access Program
On-site
access privileges through the Research
Libraries Group's
SHARES partnership permit faculty, emeritus faculty, students,
and academic and professional library staff of partner institutions
to use the collections and services at other SHARES
libraries. Please note that this program provides for in-library
use of library resources, but usually not for borrowing privileges.
