About Interlibrary Lending

Through interlibrary lending (ILL), users of other academic, public and special libraries can gain access to materials held by the Emory University General Libraries*. The policies and procedures followed in providing ILL services are based on the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States and International Lending and Document Delivery: Principles and Guidelines for Procedure.

The Emory General Libraries participate in several cooperative library programs, such as the Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education (ARCHE), the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), the Georgia Online Database (GOLD), and the Research Libraries Group (RLG), which provide priority ILL service and/or direct borrowing privileges for their users. Please contact ILL or Reference staff at your library for more information about these programs.

*The General Libraries include the Robert W. Woodruff (Main) Library, J. S. Guy Chemistry Library, Roberto C. Goizueta Business Library, and the Marian K. Heilbrun Music and Media Library. The Interlibrary Loan office for all of these libraries is located in the Woodruff (Main) Library.

The following Emory libraries have separate interlibrary loan offices: Health Sciences Center, Law, Oxford College and Theology. Please contact these ILL offices directly regarding their services.

ILL News and Announcements

New!

ISO ILL Protocol Requesting: We now accept ISO ILL Protocol requests from libraries using RLG's ILL Manager system. As soon as Atlas Systems completes interoperability testing between ILLiad and other ISO ILL Protocol-compliant systems, we can begin to accept requests from libraries using those systems, as well.

Coming soon...

ILLiad Lending Web Forms: We also soon hope to introduce web request forms for lending via the OCLC ILLiad interlibrary loan management system. Once our ILLiad web forms for lending are accessible, they will be the preferred request method for libraries that cannot request send requests via OCLC or ISO ILL. At that time, we will begin notifying libraries that currently request from us via e-mail, ALA or IFLA forms of their ILLiad UserName, so that they can begin requesting from us via the web. Libraries that request from us via e-mail, ALA or IFLA form for the first time after our lending web forms are available will receive their ILLiad UserName when we supply the item (or negative reply) so that future requests can be submitted via the web.
