General Libraries Storage Retrieval
|
How
to Request an Item from Storage
| 1. Look
up the book or journal in EUCLID, Emory’s online catalog. |
| 2. Click
on the Request button. |
| 3. Enter
your Emory Personal ID. (If you do not have an
Emory ID, stop by the Woodruff Library Circulation
Desk on Level 3 or call 404-727-6873 for assistance.) |
| 4. Click
on the Request It button for the specific item
you wish to request. If the holdings statement
in EUCLID indicates that the library owns the
volume needed but you do not see a listing for
that specific volume, click on any Request It button for that title. |
| 5. Click
on Request Item from Storage. |
| 6. If you
are an Emory student, faculty member, or staff
member and have requested a journal, you will
have the option to request either a copy of a
specific article or the entire volume. |
a. If you
are requesting the entire volume this is listed
at the top of the form, click on the appropriate
button.
|
b. If you
are requesting a volume or volumes that the library
owns but were not specifically listed with a Request It button, click on the appropriate button and enter which volume(s) and/or date(s)
you need.
|
c. If you
are requesting a copy of an article, click on
the appropriate button and fill in the citation
information. NOTE: You must be registered in ILLiad, Emory's interlibrary loan and document delivery system, for your article request
to be processed.
|
| 7. Click
on the Send Request button. |
| |
Article
Delivery (Emory Students, Faculty & Staff only)
|
| Based on
the delivery preference you have selected in ILLiad, you will receive the requested article either in paper or electronic form,
usually within 24 hours after the request has
been placed (Monday-Friday). |
| 1. If you
have selected electronic delivery, you will receive
an email from your library’s interlibrary loan
office notifying you when the article is available
and the steps to view the article. |
| 2. If you
opted for another form of article delivery, your
storage articles will be handled accordingly,
with notification of availability coming from
your library’s interlibrary loan office. |
| |
How
to Pick-Up and Return Books or Journals
|
| 1. We will
notify you by email either when the requested
material is available or if an item is unavailable. |
| 2. You can
expect to pick-up requested materials 24 hours
after the request has been made (except for requests
made on Friday and Saturday—these should be available
on Monday). Beginning Friday, December 28, at Noon,
Level 6 materials with a location of STORTEMP
will be inaccessible to both staff and users
until Wednesday, January 16, 2008, while the materials
are being
transferred back to Level 6. Level 6 will reopen
on Wednesday, Jan.16, 2008. |
| 3. You can
pick up storage items from shelving located on
Level 3 in the InfoCommons area across from the
Woodruff Library Circulation Desk. This is a
self-service area. We will shelve items in call
number order, so please bring your pick-up notice
so you can easily find your materials. If you
would like to check-out the items, please bring
them to the Circulation desk. |
| 4. We will
hold materials for 10 days. Materials will be
sent back to the Storage Library on the tenth
day. |
5. Please
return Storage Library items to the Woodruff
Library Circulation Desk to ensure the materials
will be returned to the correct location.
|
Other
Retrieval Information
|
| 1. Materials
will be retrieved within 24 hours of request
except that requests placed on Friday and Saturday
will not be retrieved until Monday. Retrieval
on Saturday and Sunday is not provided. Beginning Friday, December 28, at Noon, Level 6 materials with a location of
STORTEMP will be inaccessible to both staff and
users until Wednesday, January 16, 2008, while
the materials are being transferred back to Level
6.
Level 6 will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008. |
| 2. If you
do not have library privileges and wish to request
a book or bound journal volume from the Storage
Library, Circulation staff can manually place
a request for you. Visit us on Level 3 of the
Woodruff Library, or contact us by phone at 404-727-6873.
Article delivery is available for Emory students,
faculty, and staff only. |
| 3. The stacks
area of the Storage Library is not open to the
public, therefore browsing is not possible. If
you need to consult multiple volumes of books
or journals, there is a reading space at the
Storage Library expressly for this purpose, which
is available by appointment. Please contact the
Retrieval Supervisor at 404-727-2830 for an appointment
and directions. Also note that photocopying services
are not available at the Storage Library. |
