On-Site Use of Materials
in the Reading Room

The Reading Room is available by appointment to consult items on site at the Storage Library during the following hours:

  • Wednesdays between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM
  • Fridays between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM

Patrons may schedule to use the reading room by phoning the Storage Library staff at 727-8161 or 727-8160 or by sending email to storelib@listserv.cc.emory.edu. It is recommended that appointments be made at least two business days in advance. Other appointment times can be accommodated, though they should be scheduled with more than two business days advance notice.

When making the appointment, patrons should inform the Storage Library staff about the items that they wish to consult. The requested material will be ready for viewing in the Reading Room at the time of the appointment. If during the appointment, the patron determines that additional items shelved in the Storage Library are needed, the staff will page them for use. Browsing of the Storage Library stacks is not permitted due to safety and security issues.

Items paged for patrons for use in the Reading Room must be viewed on site; it is not possible for the staff to circulate University Libraries items shelved in the Storage Library.

Patrons are permitted to make a limited number of copies on the copy machine in the Storage Library staff office.

Special Collections materials cannot be consulted at the Storage Library without prior approval from the owning Library.

An EUCLID terminal is available in the Reading Room.
