  • ABELL Literature Online
    Indexes monographs, journals, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays, and doctoral dissertations published anywhere in the world in the areas of English language, English literature, bibliography, and traditional culture of the English-speaking world from 1920 to the present.

  • Academic Search Premier
    Includes both scholarly journals and popular magazines. Indexes periodicals from 1984 to the present; from 1990 to present also includes many full text articles. (Some publications starting in the 1960s and 1970s are also indexed). Not limited to any one field.

  • Accessible Archives
    Provides coverage of the Colonial Period, the French & Indian War, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, African-American History, Industrial Revolution, and Genealogy from 18th & 19th Century Newspapers.

  • African American Biographical Database
    Biographical information, including photographs and illustrations. AABD includes profiles and full-text sketches providing both biographical detail and narratives chronicling the lives of Black Americans. The majority of the content comes from Black Biographical Dictionaries 1790-1950. However, newly uncovered dictionaries, other reference sources, obituary files, slave narrative collections, internet sites, etc. will be added as the database expands.

  • African Studies Online
    Provides access to multi-disciplinary information on Africa. African Studies includes information sources from Africa, Europe, and the USA from the 19th century to the present.

  • America: History and Life
    Indexes journals from 1964 to the present, and book reviews, and dissertations from 1974 to the present for American history and Canadian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present.

  • American Periodicals Series Online
    A major primary source collection for historical research. Includes digitized images of American periodicals from the colonial period through the beginning of the 20th century. More than 1,000 periodicals from all fields will be covered in the completed product.

  • Anthropological Literature
    Indexes journals, books, and essays on anthropology and archaeology, including art history, demography, economics, psychology, and religious studies from the late 19th century to the present.. Coverage is international, with emphasis on material published in English and other European languages.

  • Bibliography of the History of Art
    Covering European art from post-classical times to the present and American art from post-Columbian times to the present, the Bibliography of the History of Art indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings and dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogs, and articles from 1973 to the present. It incorporates the art indexes RILA (International Repertory of the Literature of Art) (1975-1989) RAA (Repertoire de lart et de larcheologie) (1973-1989) and BHA (1990 to present).

  • BLACK STUDIES ON DISC
    on Non-Web Database Network
    Indexes scholarly and popular periodicals in African American studies beginning with 1988. Black Studies on Disc also includes provides access to the cumulative catalog of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The Schomburg catalog contains references for African American, African, and African Diaspora studies. The Index to Black Periodicals is available in print. (Woodruff Library Reference AI3 .O4).

  • Books in Print
    Includes information on in-print, out-of-print, and forthcoming books as well as video and audio recordings from North American publishers. Also includes full-text reviews.

  • Contemporary Women's Issues
    Covers global information on women from journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies from 1992 to the present. Information on women is available in the disciplines of sociology, psychology, law, health, education, and business.

  • Ethnic NewsWatch
    A full-text collection of U. S. newspapers, magazines, and journals of ethnic, minority, and native presses, searchable in English and Spanish. Includes some archival materials from the mid 1980s.

  • Handbook of Latin American Studies
    A selective bibliography on Latin America. Indexes journals, books and book chapters, and conference papers in the social sciences and humanities from 1935 to the present.

  • Hispanic American Periodicals Index
    Indexes articles from 1973 to the present about Latin Americans in Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean basin, the United States-Mexico border region, and Hispanics in the United States. Topics include politics and government, business, economic development and policy issues, gender studies, environmental issues, history, anthropology, religion, art, literature, drama, and film.

  • Historical Abstracts

  • International Bibliography of the Social Sciences
    Indexes an international selection of journals, books, book reviews, and edited book chapters in the fields of economics, political science, sociology, and anthropology. Compiled by the British Library of Political & Economic Science of the London School of Economics & Political Science.

  • International Index to Music Periodicals
    Indexes current international music periodicals and retrospective citations from periodicals dating back as far as 1874.

  • JSTOR
    JSTOR (The Journal Storage Project) provides searchable full-text access to backfiles of key scholarly journals in many fields including African American studies, African studies, anthropology, archaeology, Asian studies, business, classical studies, ecology, economics, education, finance, general science, geography, history, history of science, language and literature, Latin American studies, mathematics, Middle East studies, philosophy, political science, population studies, Slavic studies, sociology, and statistics.

  • Left Index
    Provides access to literature on the left from 1990 to the present, with a primary emphasis on politically and culturally engaged scholarship inside and outside the academy and a secondary emphasis on significant but little known sources of news and ideas. Topics covered include politics, economics, the labor movement, ecology and environment, women's studies, race and ethnicity, social and cultural theory, sociology, art and aesthetics, philosophy, history, education, law, and globalization.

  • Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
    Full-text access to news, business, medical, educational and legal sources. The sources include international, national, and regional newspapers; magazines; trade journals; newsletters; wire service reports; and transcripts of television and radio news programs.

  • Literature Resource Center
    Provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analysis of authors from every age and literary discipline. Includes articles from Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, Dictionary of Literary Biography, and much more.

  • MLA International Bibliography through Ovid
    Produced by the Modern Language Association, this database indexes critical scholarship on literature, language, linguistics, and folklore from 1963 to the present. Coverage includes journals, series, monographs, dissertations, bibliographies, proceedings, and other materials.

  • MOTION PICTURE GUIDE
    on Non-Web Database Network
    This database contains information on movies released form 1927 through the end of 1994. As well as most features released theatrically in the US, a significant proportion of films released "straight to video" have also been included. Silent films are not covered. Each film entry contains the following information: title, year of release, and cast list as well as other film details.

  • New York Times Historical
    The New York Times (1851-1999) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.

  • PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service)
    Indexes books, periodicals and selected local, state, national, and international government documents in the areas of public policy, social policy and the social sciences from 1971 to present.

  • Periodicals Contents Index
    An electronic index to millions of articles published in over 4,000 periodicals in the humanities and social sciences published since the eighteenth century. Periodicals in 40 languages and dialects are indexed, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and other Western languages.

  • Philosopher's Index
    Indexes books and journals in philosophy and related fields from 1940 to the present. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, metaphysics, and logic as well as material on the philosophy of law.

  • Poole's Plus
    Provides access to the major 19th century periodical indexes, including Poole's Index, Stead's Index, Richardson's Index to Periodicals in Religion, and the Cumulative Index to a Selected List of Periodicals. Indexes journals in the arts, history, religion, philosophy, the social sciences, and the sciences.

  • Project Muse
    Provides access to scholarly journals published by major university presses. Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, and many others.

  • PsycINFO
    Indexes journals, books, book chapters, dissertations, and reports in psychology and related disciplines from 1887 to the present.

  • RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
    Indexes journals, books, bibliographies, catalogs, dissertations, films and videos, and conference proceedings from 1969 to the present in international music. Encompasses historical musicology, ethnomusicology, instruments and voice, librarianship, dance, and music therapy.

  • Social Sciences Index
    Indexes core periodicals in the fields of anthropology, economics, geography, law and criminology, political science, social work, sociology, and international relations from 1983 to the present.

  • Sociological Abstracts
    Indexes sociology and sociological topics in anthropology, economics, education, medicine, community development, philosophy, demography, political science and social psychology from 1963 to the present.

  • Times Digital Archive
    The Times Digital Archive offers full page and article images of the Times (London) with searchable full text, including searchable advertisements and photographs, from 1785 to 1985. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue. This archive does not include the Sunday Times, a newspaper independent of the Times. Use Lexis-Nexis Academic for issues from 1985 to the present.

  • Web of Science
    A collection of multidisciplinary citation databases, including Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index . Because the information stored about each article includes the article's cited reference list (i.e., its bibliography), you can also search for articles that cite a known author or work. Coverage begins with 1975.

  • Women's Resources International
    Includes records drawn from a variety of women's studies databases from 1972 to the present. Indexes all aspects of women's issues, e.g., reproductive rights, feminist theory and history.

  • World News Connection
    A Foreign News Service from the U.S. Government that offers translated and English-language news and information from 1994 to the present. Includes the local media sources in foreign countries and regions. Compiled from thousands of non-U.S. media sources, the information in WNC covers socioeconomic, political, scientific, technical, and environmental issues and events.

  • Worldwide Political Science Abstracts
    Indexes international serial literature in political science and its complementary fields including international relations, law, and public administration/policy from 1975 to the present. Replaces ABC Pol Sci. Also includes the backfiles from Political Science Abstracts.
