- BOOK REVIEWS
Major Africana titles are covered in standard reviewing
sources such as:
Books
In Print+Reviews
Includes information on in-print, out-of-print, and forthcoming
books as well as video and audio recordings from North
American publishers. Also includes full-text reviews.

academic interest. The electronic version goes back to

dealing with Africa have a book review section. Many of
these reviews are indexed in the standard Africana indexes.
Electronic indexes and full text periodical sources (such
as JSTOR) often allow
you to limit your searches to book reviews. In addition
there are the following:
Z465.7 A37 African Book Publishing Record provides
selected reviews and lists of books published in Africa
since 1975. Latest issues are kept in the Acquisitions Department.
H-Africa

HOLDINGS
Primary Source Material at Emory:
The Emory Libraries have rich collections of primary source material for African Studies. These include extensive missionary archives, papers of explorers, politicians/diplomats and government documents (see additional information on official documents below). These collections are listed in EUCLID but holdings in microfilm are easily located through a specialized gateway which also contains helpful annotations. Warning: the gateway is currently limited to major microfilm sets and reflects holdings in Woodruff Library only. It does not always include the latest collections.
EMORY MICROFILM GATEWAY
Includes annotated listings for major microfilm sets in the Woodruff Library. Look under the categories "Africa," "Religion," and "Slavery."
Beyond Emory:
CENTER FOR RESEARCH LIBRARIES (CRL)/COOPERATIVE MICROFORM PROJECT (CAMP)
CRL houses a wide variety of primary sources, including missionary materials, government publications, newspapers, etc. that are available for extended loans to Emory researchers. Their catalog is one of the first places to search for primary sources not held at Emory. CRL has a topic guide for African Studies which covers major collecions only. CRL publishes a Focus on Global Resources newsletter which has had several issues of interest: "Religion and the Modern World" (Summer 2007) and "England in Africa" (Spring 2007) . CAMP is an area studies program within CRL devoted to preserving unusual publications and primary resources related to Africa. Check the CAMP page, especially under "Collections," for important materials. CRL is currently purchasing microform copies of the German Colonial Archives which include documents regarding Namibia, Togo, Cameroon and Tanzania.
