Indian Movies
(See also Tibet Movies)

We have books on Indian film and a growing collection of Indian films in DVD format and many still in videocassette format. Feel free to make suggestions. See also the list of outside video resources. For widest possible useability on campus, the library prefers DVD in NTSC format.

To get a solid list of books and videorecordings in EUCLID, use the following search phrase:

(film$ or movie$ or cinema$ or "motion picture$" or videorecording$) and india

To get a comprehensive list of videorecordings only (no books or journals), click the "Complex Search" tab, enter "India" or other subject keyword in the first line (labeled "Words or phrase"), and select "Visual Materials" from the "Format" drop down list.

To browse the shelves online for books on films in India, click the Browse Shelves tab and enter call number PN1993.5.I8. Books on individual Indian filmmakers will be cataloged elsewhere (so search by their name) as will predominantly sociological and psychological studies. See also our reference works on Indian or Hindi cinema.
